SANTRUST is a registered educational trust in the Republic of South Africa. It manages a host of programmes. Its flagship entity, the South Africa-Netherlands Research Programme on Alternatives in Development (SANPAD), has been active on the higher education landscape since 1997.
SANPAD arose from a bilateral agreement between the governments of The Netherlands and South Africa. It has been funded by the Dutch Ministry for Development Co-operation. The objective is for African universities to sustain key capacities and competencies, raise their international profile and tap the financial benefits that arise from high quality human capacity and research outputs.


About SANPAD: The South Africa Netherlands research Programme on Alternatives in Development (SANPAD) has since 1997, been financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. SANPAD has facilitated and financed research projects, search capacity building and research support activities over the past ten years.
